VOID animated book cover
ANIMATION, PHOTOGRAPHY
The assignment purpose was to introduce subtle and looping animations to a final book design as a method to promote the release of the book. Void, a sci-fi book written by Christopher Nolan is about a group of scientists who travel to space in a spaceship in a planned expedition when they accidentally stumble into a black hole. The story is about what they find inside. In the blink of an eye everything they knew became a myth; what was inside the black hole was nothing they expected. The title hovers between two ominous black holes, which was originally a photograph taken by using fog and flashlights and later edited in After Effects to be animated. For the main animation, the title is slowly pulled then abruptly sucked into one of the black holes, while the fog fades to black. The dark, eerie audio resembles what the void is supposed to sound like.
